Deryck advises clients on a variety of employment, labor, benefits and compensation matters. He has experience conducting employment-related due diligence, designing compensation and severance plans and drafting employment, separation, retention, restrictive covenant and other employment-related agreements.
In addition, Deryck regularly advises clients on day-to-day employment matters, including hirings, drug testing, terminations, reductions in force and workplace investigations, including conducting investigations in response to Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) whistleblower complaints. He also has significant experience advising employers on planning and implementing plant closings and mass layoffs in compliance with the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act.
During law school, he served as senior articles editor of the Houston Journal of International Law, and also completed a judicial internship with the Honorable Marvin Isgur of the US Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas. Before joining Bracewell, Deryck was an associate at a Texas-based law firm in its Houston office.
