Amid continued lateral hiring activity in Texas’ energy sector, Bracewell has expanded its oil and gas transactions bench with the addition of Kevin Brophy and Ming Lei. The move reflects the growing importance of full-service energy platforms for practitioners and clients navigating complex upstream and midstream work.

Brophy told Texas Lawyer that he and Lei were looking to practice at a firm with a “fully-built-out energy platform,” and Bracewell is a good fit. “Just for oil and gas, it’s hard to beat a platform like Bracewell. We were happily surprised to see that there were people there for 20, 30 years,” he said.

Lei said they are looking to grow their practice, and their move to Bracewell benefits their clients because of its broad range of practices working within the energy sector. Those areas, Brophy said, include finance, environmental, tax and regulatory.
