With the United Arab Emirates shifting to a Monday-Friday working week for federal government offices, Bracewell’s Chris Williams discussed with Law.com International how UAE businesses will have to continue to deal with countries that work on Sundays.

“For those of us with a more regional focus, this will mean that we are out of step with our GCC neighbours,” said Williams.

“As such, for the private sector with interests in Saudi, do we in reality end up with a six-day week or will we end up in adopting a more flexible working week, which is certainly envisaged under the 2022 Labour Law?”
