Ted Duver and Joshua Robichaud will present on “Policy and Regulatory Issues: Electricity Restructuring Developments and Policy” at the Transmission Business School. This presentation provides an overview of the evolution of the electric power industry, including industry unbundling, emerging market structures, and the growing importance of transmission as a standalone business. It also examines the market frameworks established by FERC Orders 888, 889, 890 and 2000, key issues affecting Regional Transmission Organizations (RTOs), FERC’s direction for electricity markets and RTO development, market design considerations, reforms stemming from Order No. 888, and the impacts of net metering initiatives introduced under the Energy Policy Act of 2005 (EPACT 2005), the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 (EISA 2007), and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA 2009).
