NEW YORK – Bracewell LLP partner Elizabeth L. McGinley will be honored as a Distinguished Leader at the 2026 New York Legal Awards, which will be held in New York City on September 3. She joins an elite group of New York lawyers whose leadership has significantly shaped the New York legal community over the past year.

McGinley, who chairs Bracewell’s tax and energy transition practices, brings deep and highly specialized experience to industry-leading energy clients navigating complex, high-stakes transactions. Under her leadership, Bracewell’s tax group has become a premier advisor on energy transition project development matters across the United States, particularly carbon capture, utilization and storage, clean fuel and clean hydrogen projects.

McGinley has recently advised on many transformational, first-of-their-kind projects in the energy sector, with a focus on projects supported by federal tax credits. She served as lead tax counsel on the development of the first large-scale carbon capture, transportation and sequestration project in the United States, capable of storing more than 10 million tons of carbon dioxide per year. She also has advised on innovative clean fuels projects as well as projects to provide decarbonized power for data center development.

The New York Legal Awards are presented annually by ALM Media’s New York Law Journal.
