Companies looking for clarity in the wake of the US Supreme Court’s decision striking down President Donald Trump’s tariffs imposed under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act may be in for a long wait. Almost immediately after the Court’s ruling, President Trump issued new global tariffs under Section 122 of the 1974 Trade Act and promised further action under Section 301 in the coming months.
“I think if people are waiting for certainty in any broad sense, they are going to be waiting for a long time,” Bracewell’s Josh Zive told host Romaine Bostick on Bloomberg’s “The Close.” “At this point, action is your only alternative.”
“In all likelihood we are at the beginning of this stage of the cycle,” Zive said. “A few months from now, we are likely to see new section 301 tariffs targeting individual countries, new tariffs targeting products.”
