Democrats’ sweeping midterm victories are expected to usher in a new era of congressional oversight, with lawmakers preparing to scrutinize both the Trump administration and private-sector entities that interacted with it. Companies that secured favorable regulatory outcomes or maintained close ties to the administration may face increased requests for information, document productions and other investigative activity.
“We expect there to be considerable focus on the private sector pursuing information and records related to particular industries, particular companies and, in some cases, individuals, that have engaged with this administration over the course of the last two years,” Bracewell’s Tom Moyer told Agenda.
The likely focus will be on industries or companies that received favorable regulatory outcomes after contributing monetarily to White House initiatives, he said.
