Seth Barsky, a career US Department of Justice environmental lawyer, who most recently was the deputy assistant attorney general of the agency’s Environmental and Natural Resources Division, has taken his first role in private practice as a partner at Bracewell LLP. Barsky oversaw some 450 attorneys in the division, which included working with lawyers in sections dedicated to protecting wildlife and marine resources, prosecuting environmental crimes and related matters.
“Working at the time in the Department of Justice, you’re representing the public interest, you’re representing the people of the United States, and some people differ on what the public interest is at any given time, but at the end of the day, we have shared values and we’re trying to do the right thing for the economy, for the environment, for marine resources, et cetera,” Barsky told Law360.
“Seth’s experience enhances our ability to provide companies with practical, government-facing advice on complex regulatory and enforcement matters from the nation’s capital,” Mark Lewis, the firm’s Washington, DC, office managing partner, said.
