LONDON – Bracewell (UK) LLP has been named a finalist for Energy/Infrastructure Team of the Year in Legal Business magazine’s Legal Business Awards 2025, which recognize leading law firms, in-house teams and individuals across the legal profession. Winners will be announced at a ceremony in London on September 30.
Bracewell’s market-leading energy and infrastructure practice is being honored for advising Trident Energy, L.P. on a series of M&A transactions that featured a unique combination of bank debt and trader offtake financing in the Republic of Congo. Darren Spalding, co-chair of Bracewell’s oil and gas practice, led the firm on the interrelated deals in which Trident acquired Chevron’s entire upstream oil and gas business, purchased TotalEnergies’ interest in two upstream oil and gas assets – and operatorship of those assets – and sold to TotalEnergies an interest in another oil and gas asset.
This transaction has also been shortlisted in the Innovative Lawyers in Dealmaking category at the upcoming FT Innovative Lawyers Awards Europe 2025.
