Renewable Energy World had a number of takeaways from the PRG Pulse 2024 Post-Election Webinar in its early look at what might happen to the renewable energy industry in President-elect Donald Trump’s second administration with the Senate and potentially the House being controlled by the Republicans.

On how far Trump will go, the publication noted Bracewell tax lawyer Tim Urban’s expectations of the next Trump administration coming in with a two-fisted mandate to do things consistently with what they believe to be the will of the electorate.

“There’s an element of the revenge tour that’s probably inevitable here,” Bracewell’s Liam Donovan is quoted as saying. “It’s not just about what Donald Trump wants to do, but what the people around him want to do. What’s their agenda and what do they intend to do?”

Renewable Energy World also noted thoughts by Bracewell’s Scott Segal that the Inflation Reduction Act will remain largely intact, but that he anticipates the next Trump administration to have an aggressive approach to fossil fuel expansion.

No matter what happens, tariffs can be expected to remain a staple of the next administration, particularly on Chinese products. “Going after China is one of the few truly bipartisan issues that we’ve had over the last few years,” Bracewell’s Josh Zive is quoted saying in the piece.
