A week into the shutdown of the federal government, reforms that would benefit both renewable energy and oil and gas have been stalled. While some oil and gas permitting is still moving forward, cuts to tax credits in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act have hit the renewable energy industry hard.

“This is more than just about the shutdown,” Bracewell’s Frank Maisano told the Houston Business Journal. “This is the uncertainty that the energy industry has dealt with all along.”

“If we can get more certainty to continue to push projects forward across the board that are an all-of-the-above (approach), that underscore reliability and protect affordability for consumers, I think we’re going to be much better off,” Maisano said.
