The ongoing government shutdown is bringing rising uncertainty for lobbyists and their clients. Lobbyists said some Capitol Hill offices were taking a business-as-usual approach during the shutdown, while others were canceling meetings and changing the schedule depending on each lawmaker’s decision.
“Because of that, it requires reconnaissance with each individual office,” Bracewell’s Holt Edwards told Bloomberg Government.
“Lobbyists right now are just emailing their contacts, figuring out what people are still working and doing as much as possible,” he said. “The longer this goes on, the more pronounced the impacts that you’re going to see.”
