LONDON – Bracewell (UK) LLP has been named a finalist for Energy/Infrastructure Team of the Year at Legal Business magazine’s Legal Business Awards 2026 for its role in the financial close of the 2-GW Al Sadawi solar PV project in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Winners will be announced at a ceremony in London on September 29.
Led by partners Oliver Irwin and Tom Swarbrick, Bracewell advised the consortium comprising Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar), Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) and GD Power in relation to its successful bid, development, financing and shareholder arrangements of the project. The team structured a creative, multi-sourced financing that seamlessly blended Shari’ah-compliant and conventional structures while incorporating corporate bridge and export-based loan facilities on a pari passu basis until investment.
The Al Sadawi project, which is set to be one of the world’s largest solar plants, marks a significant milestone in the Kingdom’s journey toward achieving its energy mix target of 50 percent renewable energy by 2030.
