Shai Sahay will speak at the 2026 Advanced Bioeconomy Leadership Conference. Shai will participate in a panel discussion on “Aligning Regulatory and Market Incentives Between the U.S. and EU for Low-Carbon Fuels.” The panel will examine the differences between mandate-driven approaches in the EU and incentive-based frameworks in the United States, focusing on lifecycle carbon accounting, crediting mechanisms, and compliance flexibility. It will also explore how U.S. federal and state clean fuel incentives and EU sustainability and emissions trading regimes influence market access, exports, and cross-border alignment for fuel producers and investors. The session will highlight areas of regulatory convergence and misalignment, including feedstock treatment, book-and-claim systems, and evolving sustainability criteria, and will address the implications for companies operating across both jurisdictions, as well as opportunities for greater coordination to support low-carbon fuel markets while maintaining environmental integrity.
