Susan Berry is a partner in the firm’s finance practice, providing strategic counsel to lenders, other financial institutions and corporate borrowers on complex lending matters and secured transactions. Susan is recognized for her expertise in asset-based loans involving diverse collateral across many industries including reserve-based loans to upstream oil and gas companies, syndicated lending facilities, intercreditor arrangements, unsecured loans, term loans, working capital facilities, leveraged acquisitions, development loans and project financings. She also has experience with workouts and restructurings.
Susan advises clients operating in a broad range of industries, with a particular emphasis on the energy industry, including the oil and gas and renewable energy sectors. She leads financing transactions in the upstream, midstream and oilfield service spaces, and has helped clients to finance battery energy storage systems, mines, power plants, electronic recycling and metal and mineral recycling plants as well as liquified natural gas developments.
Prior to joining Bracewell, Susan was a partner in another global law firm based in Houston. In 2016, Susan was seconded to act as in-house counsel to the energy banking division of Capital One following the commodity price downturn, where her efforts focused on distressed situations, particularly involving reserve-based oil and gas loans.
