Bracewell’s Lucy Porter spoke to the Austin American-Statesman about the lawsuit filed by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton over data privacy and the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act (TDPSA).

Porter said that data privacy laws exist in other states, but what makes Texas different is it is taking its data privacy law seriously.

“Most state laws put privacy enforcement in the hands of the attorney general,” Porter said. “What Texas has done though is funded it, staffed it and supported it. … If you’re not paying attention, I think now is the time to pay attention. I think it’s really clear that the attorney general and the Attorney General’s Office is taking Texans privacy seriously. They mean to enforce these laws.”
