Bracewell’s Chris Williams recently discussed with ALM’s Middle East and Africa reporter Peter Shaw-Smith whether or not the business-friendly United Arab Emirates will introduce a corporate tax.
Williams said that the hotly debated issue “does come up for discussion on a pretty regular basis, as does [the question] of income tax.”
“The general consensus is that it will be far easier and far more straightforward to introduce corporation tax than it would be to introduce income tax, for a multitude of reasons,” said Williams. “However, there are some obviously significant hurdles regarding the corporation tax idea.”
