Bracewell’s Andrej Kormuth addressed with Law.com International what the restoration of full diplomatic relations between Qatar and the four Arab nations means to law firms in the region.

“For us, Qatar is an important, and an extremely creditworthy, jurisdiction,” said Kormuth. “It’s one that is obviously very reliant on its gas and gas reserves; by virtue of the sheer volume of the gas reserves that it has, it’s an attractive market for our clients, and I can’t see that changing.”

“Even with the fiscal contractions across the board in the GCC, certainly from our discussions with our clients, Qatar, together with Saudi Arabia and the UAE, continues to be the destination of choice, just by virtue of the credit profile of those countries.”
