DUBAI – Bracewell partner Patricia Tiller co-chaired the drafting committee responsible for the recent publication of the Association of International Energy Negotiator’s (AIEN) 2025 Model LNG Sale and Purchase Agreement (SPA). The model agreement is the culmination of a six-year, industry-wide effort to create a flexible framework for the sale and purchase of LNG on a Free on Board (FOB) basis.
Tiller, along with co-chair James English, led a drafting committee comprised of more than 400 professionals from 69 countries in developing a model LNG SPA and guidance notes designed to streamline negotiations, promote consistency and reduce transaction costs. The drafting committee included additional Bracewell attorneys, Ro Lazarovitch and Tareq Toubassi.
“It has been a privilege to work with this group of distinguished industry leaders in developing a model LNG SPA that balances the interests of buyers and sellers and is flexible enough to be used for trades in any geographic region.”
Tiller joined Bracewell’s global energy practice in September. She has played a pivotal role in the shaping LNG projects across six continents, providing guidance on the structuring and negotiation of LNG SPAs, LNG time charter parties and terminal use agreements for LNG import and export.
Bracewell continues to add depth to its LNG advisory capabilities, guiding clients on landmark LNG import and export projects across the globe.
