Bracewell’s Austin Lee discussed with Texas Lawyer how a robust improvement in the price of a barrel of oil is boosting work for Texas firms with energy practices.

“It’s obviously a very stark contrast to what we experienced in 2020. Ever since the middle of the spring, it’s been extremely busy—as busy a time as I’ve ever seen in my career,” said Lee.

Oil prices are up 60 percent since the start of 2021, a recovery that has led to increased deals activity in the oil and gas sector.

According to Lee, practices across the energy sector are “firing on all cylinders” and 2021 has been a fun year as rising oil prices lead to more energy work.

“We’ve seen clients who were really worried last year who are now really excited. There’s a lot of opportunities presenting themselves,” Lee said.
