Fossil fuels can provide attractive returns for investors, but find it difficult to win over ESG-concerned financiers. On the other hand, renewable technologies tick boxes for the transition, but have struggled to achieve returns.
Bracewell’s Ro Lazarovitch told Energy Voice there has been a renewed focus on returns from developers.
“For a while, there was a correlation between green energy investment and return certainly – at least in the early stages. But what we’re now seeing in the market is more of a balancing. People are looking for that return,” Lazarovitch said.
