After serving almost 18 years in prison for a crime he did not commit, Martin “Marty” Tankleff has been admitted to practice before the US Supreme Court. Bracewell’s Stephen Braga, one of the lawyers who represented Tankleff in the battle to overturn the conviction, sponsored Tankleff to practice before the high court.

Speaking to New York Law Journal, Braga offered insights into Tankleff’s first steps to becoming an attorney following exoneration.

During the time Tankleff was incarcerated, Braga noticed his client “getting increasingly comfortable writing letters to people, working with us on strategy, offering comments on briefs.”
