Kit Crumbley will speak at UT Law CLE’s 30th Annual Advanced Patent Law Institute. While discretionary denial has dominated PTAB discussions in 2025, a series of other developments have also reshaped PTAB practice, prompting practitioners to adjust their strategies for both AIA trials and ex parte appeals. The session will cover key Federal Circuit rulings narrowing estoppel and addressing implicit claim construction, limits on the use of admitted prior art and general knowledge in IPR petitions, the PTAB’s efforts to reduce ex parte appeal pendency, and the return to mandatory in-person hearings.
