Frank Maisano, Bracewell PRG senior principal, told E&E News that President Joe Biden’s ban on new offshore oil and gas drilling along most of America’s coastline is more symbolic than substantive.
“It is all about symbols and the Biden administration has been long on symbolism and short on any substance on either side,” Maisano said.
Biden is blocking new drilling in areas where there is already minimal oil and gas production. For example, the federal government has not allowed drilling in the eastern Gulf of Mexico, off the coast of Florida, since the early 1990s.
