Vince Morgan, an insurance recovery partner in Bracewell LLP’s Houston office, spoke with The Texas Lawbook about some of the legal issues facing energy and petrochemical companies in the Lake Charles area in the wake of Hurricane Laura.
Several kinds of storm-related legal issues can emerge between companies and their insurance carriers as they evaluate their claims, coverage and policies. These issues include:
- valuation issues with respect to replacement costs for damaged equipment
- business interruption and ingress/egress claims (for companies that physically cannot access their facilities
- civil authority coverage
- service interruption claims
