Vivek Shankam serves as a patent agent and is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). Vivek prepares and prosecutes electrical, mechanical, computer software, telecommunications and business method patent applications. He regularly conducts novelty searches and advises clients on patentability of inventions and freedom to operate. Vivek also assists clients in conducting IP due diligence in M&A deals, as well as drafting patent and technology licensing agreements.
Vivek, who’s experience includes working with large multinational clients, previously worked in-house as a patent portfolio manager at a Fortune 100 company. He has managed parallel prosecution in 13 countries, including the U.S., Japan, China and India, as well as several European countries.
Prior to his career in intellectual property, he was employed at North Carolina State University where he researched and developed new methods for processing fibers into textile structures using wireless micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) technology.
