Bracewell Represents Great Plains Energy in Amended Merger Agreement with Westar Energy

NEW YORK Bracewell LLP is representing Great Plains Energy Incorporated in an amended merger agreement with Westar Energy, Inc. The revised transaction involves no premium paid or received with respect to either company, no transaction debt, no exchange of cash, and is a stock-for-stock merger of equals. The merger will create a company with a combined equity value of approximately $14 billion.

The combined company, yet to be named, will provide electric utility service to 1.6 million customers in Kansas and Missouri.
