Bracewell & Giuliani LLP Partner Jarvis V. Hollingsworth has been elected chairman of the University of Houston (UH) System Board of Regents for fiscal year 2014. The board is the governing body of the UH System, which includes UH, UH-Clear Lake, UH-Downtown and UH-Victoria, branch campuses UH-Sugar Land, UH System-Northwest and UHCL Pearland, and a teaching center in Cinco Ranch.
Hollingsworth was appointed to the board in 2009 by Texas Governor Rick Perry. In 2013, he served as the board’s vice chair and served as secretary in 2012. For the previous two years Hollingsworth served as chair of the Finance and Administration Committee and as a member of the Executive and Compensation Committees. He served as chair of the Endowment Management Committee his first two years on the board.
An alumnus of the UH Law Center, Hollingsworth chairs Bracewell & Giuliani’s Public Entities Practice Group, advising boards of directors/trustees of public and private companies and government and educational entities on their duties, corporate governance and director liability matters. He also advises clients on government strategies, employment contracts, grievances, employee terminations, school and college governance, coalition building, strategic communications and policy development.
