Bracewell Earns Place on Law360’s List of Litigation Powerhouses

HOUSTON – Bracewell LLP was named to Law360’s inaugural list of Litigation Powerhouses, which identified the top-50 litigation practices in the nation. Bracewell was further highlighted by Law360 as one of an “elite group” of only five firms with fewer than 200 litigation attorneys included on the list of “litigation heavyweights.”

“We coalesced on a strategy of reshaping ourselves as a litigation boutique inside of a large law firm,” said Partner Stephen B. Crain, chair of the firm’s litigation practice. “Instead of having pods of trial lawyers doing different things in different locations, we decided to really work together as one unit.”

The article highlighted among Bracewell’s achievements victories for mining company ASARCO in the U.S. Supreme Court, Italian energy giant Eni S.p.A. in a $6.4 billion dispute involving an oil concession from the government of the African nation of Togo, KBR in an $81 million case regarding hazardous chemicals at an Iraqi water facility, and Waste Management in a $3 billion environmental enforcement suit.

The Law360 recognition comes on the heels of the practice’s national ranking in June by The Legal 500 United States, which recognized Bracewell’s“strength across the board in commercial litigation and arbitration, with the knowledge and resources to handle complex disputes in forums across the U.S.”

The firms on Law360’s list of Litigation Powerhouses, which “consistently leveraged a deep bench into outstanding wins,” were chosen by analyzing the firms’ wins for clients, new matters, and ability to staff litigation teams between March 1, 2015 and March 1, 2016.
